Tunceli-Cemisgezek- Dogan Village Carpet Weaving Samples

Weaving makes up the most important group among traditional craftwork that finds a place among a great variety in the society for centuries. although weaving was born with the requirement to protect the society against external effects, it has an artistic and cultural expression attached to it with time as well. anatolia is a geographical location having important examples in weaving matter. weaving art, coming forward with a unique and sometimes integrative understanding in each region, has rich samples. one of the cities having rich examples in weaving is tunceli city. carpet and other weaving examples show diversity in the villages where savak tribe lives densely and continues its presence in the city. it is observed that carpet samples, which were obtained as a result of the examinations made in one of these villages, dogan village of çemisgezek county, were weaved in various forms such as sofa, side, base and pillowcase. arrangements were made as laky carpet, a composition of the carpet in general, and these laky carpets were enriched with the multi armed star, wing pattern, octagonal medallion, and scorpion and dragon motifs. these examples seen in the region can be evaluated as the last samples of migrant-settler culture. living conditions, changing in parallel to the developing industry, have caused this culture to face vanishing. studies to be made for the examination and writing of the products belonging to the region and their documentation to handle them again in the future are the issues to be focused on swiftly for the future of our traditional craftwork.
