Overview of the Printed Press on Secularism in Turkey

The aim of this study is to analyze the meanings ascribed to the concept of secularism in turkey in terms of the aspects reflected to the newspaper columns. to do this, van dijk model of critical discourse analysis has been the approach referenced in the analysis of newspaper columns. the analysis performed has revealed that the factors such as dome ideology, that may be called the ideology of each newspaper are the writer's ideological attitude under this ideology, the position in power/competence relations and perception of others / writer’s conceptual understanding regarding the reproduction process of the concepts in the conceptual secularism discussions. thus, it can be said that a hegemonic attitude based on consent rather than sanction determines the adventure of the concepts.
