The Issues of Technical Supervision, Transparency, and Accountability of Urban Planning in Turkey

City plans form the cities’ today and future influence the distribution of urban rent and resources directly and substantially. there are some necessities for efficient planning, as to identifying the main issues accurately, appropriate planning approaches and tools, sufficient capacity to develop and implement plans, sufficiently strong legal frameworks, and having sufficient time for planning. as the long term influence of city development plans placed upon cities they are categorized in strategic planning. in turkey, the most important instutitions in urban development planning are municipalities. urban development plans have some unhealthy consequences arising from some reasons including delayed technical expertize control, that the planning processes are exposed to the lack of participation, transparency, and accountability.
