An Application on the Validity of Problem Solving Theroy: Sample of Ataturk University Faculty of Communication

This study is conducted to determine the extent to which problem solving theory is applicable in different cultures, which is an extended form of publics thory as a valid theory for classifying general population based on publics and determining which communicative behavior types is presented by these publics. according to the study which is carried out with 288 participants, a high degree of problem and involvement perception is resulted in a high degree of situational motivation; a high degree of constraint perseption is resulted in a low degree of situational motivation, existence of referent criterion and a high degree of situational motivation are resulted in high degree of commuticative actions. thus, validity and applicability of the problem solving theory in different cultures is confirmed.
