|
The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of perceptual learning style preferences of social sciences teaching department students upon their general academic and geography lesson success. study group of the research includes totally 154 students studying at gaziosmanpasa university faculty of education social sceinces teaching department in 2011-2012 academic year. research data that belong to learning style preferences have been acquired using learning styles questionnaire developed by cohen, oxford and chi (2002). success average of students has been obtained analyzing registrar’s office documents of students and interviewing with their lecturers. the research is a descriptive study in scanning method. the data were analyzed using statistical techniques. at the end of the study, there has been determined that average success of the students who have mixed style preference in both general academic and geography lesson was high. the lowest average success was at students who have auditory learning style preference.
