Viewpoints of Students in Accountancy Department of Vocational Colleges: A Survey at Atatürk University

The importance of vocational colleges in supplying qualified personnel for the corporations both in developed and developing countries can’t be denied. accountancy and taxation departments serve this purpose by educating accountancy professionals. thus, the aim of this study is to determine the viewpoints of the above mentioned department students towards the accountancy profession. for this purpose, 9 questions in a questionnaire were asked totally to 481 accountancy department students of aşkale vocational college (vc), erzurum vc, ispir vc, hınıs vc, oltu vc, pasinler vc and narman vc. according to the survey, it was found that most of the students (%66) desire to be a vocational staff, and %60 of this sum want to become professional by completing a 4 year graduate studies. besides, it can be said that abolition of ‘free accountant’ title by the changer brought by the law number 3568 in 2008 haven’t lessened the wish of being a member of accountancy profession of the students attending these colleges.
