The Position and Importance of Palandöken Dam on Supplying the Water Need of Erzurum City

In this work, the water need of erzurum city today and the situation of palandöken dam, which was built to supply this need, are tried to be analyzed. in past, the fresh water need of erzurum city was supplied from the wells in erzurum plain. however, the drinkability of this water decreased due to the increase in nitrate ratio in well waters, and palandöken dam was started to be constructed in 1994 to recover the water need of erzurum city and it was finished in 2001. by virtue of palandöken dam, the water need of the city will be supplied not only for today but also for a long period of time. the quality of water in dam is not naturally as well as spring waters and well waters. thus, drinking the water of palandöken dam and its quality will continue to be a discussion topic but these discussions will decrease as the water quality will increase due to the water treatment sites.
