|
Abdurrahman tayyar, who is one of the few literate people whom the folk has given the title “dede (grandfather, old wise man)” after dede korkut, is a very important folk poet of iranian turks. by his “incili sedef (shell with its pearl)”, “urmu gölü (urmu lake)” and “günümüz aydın (may our day be bright)” poetry books, and yet not published “el-marife (al-marif)” and “mevlid” works, he made a great contribution to iranian turkish literature as well as to the world of turkish literature. on the other hand, he played an important role in the development of iranian turkish language and literature by his sermons which he delivered at mosques, by his orations at various programs, and by his turkish poems which constituted words of songs, and of dozens of minstrels. in his poems, he gave great importance to the subjects of allah, prophet, qur’an, turkish language and turkish islamic ideal. his life, his works, and his place in iranian turkish literature are evaluated by taking all these facts into account.
