MOVIE AS A WORK OF ART WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF INTERACTION OF NEW NOVEL / NEW WAVE CINEMA - AN EVALUATION

The interaction of artistic disciplines contains richness since it causes to the emerged work of art composing a meaning and language. therefore, composing and having a unique language of a work of art has become an experiment and research area. while, the creation which paving the way for modernist cinema might seem french new wave cinema, the creation which triggered it and forming basis for it should be sought in the new novel stream. new novel politics, by pioneering of alain robbe-grillet, have turned its head to a new way with the contribution of writers', film makers' and semiologists' ideas of the period. the cinema identifying the 20th century had created a new narrative probability to novel writers with its fiction, audio technology and narrative style. this current literature called as “camera-pen” by transferring the fiction idea of cinema; within the reality separation and decomposition procedure, places the present current time to this formation. in a similar way, new wave film-makers too, being impressed by this movement, apply this concept of “camerapen”( camera stylo) into their films. the aim is to make films, which are not dictating the classic narrative, instead, which are shaping the fantasy of spectator and bringing the mental function. the reflexivity and abstraction concepts of new novel are provided to permeat into cinema by creating fanstasy. alain robbe grillet, margurite duras and the director alain resnais had exhibited pieces of work immensely harmonising with this interplay. to sum up, new wave cinema developping with the impact of new novel has showed the way to modernist cinema through the demolishing of classic structures, the decomposition of reality and the increasing of intellectual and mental activity by cinema being the most important tool of the age.
