YEŞİLÇAM AND OUR MODERNISATION

Traditional-modern values contradiction that turkish people lived during 60’s can be examined by analyzing yeşilçam films. almost all films of yeşilçam try to preserve the traditional values and consider the “western values” as dangerous for public life. as a result of industrialization and internal migration after 1960, yeşilçam deals with the changes in “family life”, adaptation problems of big families to urban life and values and the destruction of big families who cannot adapt themselves to urban life. unfortunately, yeşilçam cannot provide solutions or alternative life styles to the people of this period.
