چکیده    Education is a tool for culturalization as well. creating awareness about the culture that forms the language is determined as one of the greatest earnings of the mother language education. hence, verbal and written literature, which includes cultural codes together with language structures, is valuable as the most important material of language education. fairy-tales have created a cultural universe of their own with both cultural forms and telling traditions. a student who joins the turkish educational system in the first grade takes his steps into this culturalization environment with “grandma! get me some popcorn”, grandpa! tell me a story”. culture as a dynamic system changes. however, if this change is not controlled it may turn into degeneration. degeneration facing turkish culture has affected fairy-tale telling; turkish fairy-tales have been replaced by foreign cartoons. fairy-tale heroes who enrich the dream world of turkish kids are now the cartoon characters such as spider man, caillou and barbie. in this study, the status of fairy-tale telling tradition will be determined by conducting surveys and interviews with the students on the pre-school and primary school levels in erzurum
