   A Semiotic Approach to Oscar wild’s Story “the Sphinx Without a Secret”

چکیده    Semiology is a science based on the interpretation of the signs and the systematic examination of factors which provide signals to be understood. semiology, which has been used in architecture, art, communication and literature, by giving the messages of the artists or authors, functions as a metalanguage with the purpose of analyzing various fields and disciplines. oscar wilde, who was a famous writer lived in the second half of the 19th century, with his style and language in the short stories, drew attention through presenting a sui generis attitude. in this study, oscar wilde’s “the sphinx without a secret” has been analyzed in terms of semiology. the aim of the study is to ferret out the hidden meaning layers under the surface meaning appeared in the story in the light of the principles of semiotics. in this respect, the details which the author wanted to make the reader see have been clearly revealed.
