THE ANALYSIS OF THE OPINIONS OF THE CHILDREN IN PRIVATE AND PUBLIC SCHOOLS REGARDING CHILDREN’S GAMES

In this research, the opinions of the children in 7-10 year age group about the children’s games, attending public and private schools were analysed. the research was conducted among a total of 160 students from five private and three public schools controlled by the national education department in erzurum. in order to analyse the opinions of the children, a questionnaire of “children’s games” has been used. in data analysis, besides the percentage and frequency analyses, the chi-square (χ2) was also used. the computer games are predominant in the list of the favourite games. the children play mainly in the parks; hide-and-seek and hopscotch are the favourite games played at the school. it has been observed that the children are familiar with our traditional games, namely hide-and-seek, blindman's buff and hopscotch; however, the courses are the main factor that prevents the children to have time to play. furthermore, the parents’ support for play was higher in private schools. the computer games are still the most significant problem for the children in terms of inactivity.
