GAZIOSMANPASA UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ VIEWS ON FAMILY INSTITUTION

Family has always existed in various forms throughout the history of societies. the concept of family has undergone changes in parallel with social upheavals. some approaches have argued that industrialization and urbanization have started the family dissolution process whereas others have emphasized family has undergone more deformation than dissolution. the present research aims to describe gaziosmanpasa university students’ views on family and predict how these students will found families in the future. the research has been conducted with 325 participants. the findings have showed the participants have conservative attitudes to the concept of family. however, female and male participants have different opinions about head of family, family elders’ interventions in domestic affairs, elderly care and women in the workforce.
