CASE REPORT: TREATMENT THE OF LIP AND THUMB SUCKING HABITS WITH THE POSITION TRAINER

Two patients had open bite due to lip and thumb sucking with tongue-thrust treated with the position trainer. eleven year-old boy and twelve year-old girl with lip and thumb sucking were referred to our clinic for leave harmful oral habits. our patients and their parents were introduced position trainer and were given information on how to use it. patients were instructed to wear apparatus during the all night and one hour in a course of the day. patients have monitored two weeks intervals for three months, and then monitored in monthly intervals. patients had left their harmful oral habits one year period, and their anterior open bite or increased overjet was corrected during this period. the patients were underwent follow-up six months. position trainer is seems a preferable apparatus to left the harmful oral habits and can produce self-correction for anterior open bite or increased overjet.
