THE PATIENT-DOCTOR RELATIONSHIP AND PATIENT PSYCHOLOGY IN ORTHODONTICS

The developmental stages of individuals consist of different steps. according to age and developmental stage, psychology and orthodontic treatment motivations of individuals vary. considering these stages orthodontist should evaluate treatment alternatives. patient cooperation is another crucial factor in the treatment process and the patient-doctor relationship has significant effects on this cooperation. physical attractiveness is an element considerably affects people’s behaviour in social environment. thus malocclusions, dentofacial deformities and their treatments’ effects on attractiveness and psychology have been studied in the literature. the aim of this review was to classify developmental stages and discuss the studies that have examined the patientdoctor relationship and cooperation and effects of different issues on patient psychology.
