DENTAL MANAGEMENT OF A MULTIPLE MYELOMA PATIENT: A CASE REPORT

Multiple myeloma (mm) is a malign disease characterized by production of abnormal immunoglobulin (ig) in the bone marrow. clinical features include recurrent bacterial infections, anemia, renal failure and osteolytic bone lesions. 5-30% of myeloma patients have been reported with jaw involvement. therefore, the dental management of mms has obvious clinical importance. the aim of this case report is to present diagnostic imaging techniques and treatment of a 30- year-old man diagnosed with mm who is considering bone marrow transplantation (bmt) andchemotherapy. the success of bone marrow transplantation in mm patients may be associated with dental foci, therefore this patient must be carefully evaluated orally before bone marrow transplantation.
