COMPARAISON OF THE SATISFACTION OF CONVENTIONAL PARTIAL DENTURES AND PARTIAL DENTURES WITH PRECISION ATTACHMENT WEARERS

Aim: to compare satisfaction of patients who use conventional partial dentures and partial denture with precision attachment in terms of function, esthetic and phonation and to question the relationship between demographic characteristics and denture satisfaction. material and method: 300 patients who were treated with conventional partial denture and partial denture with precision attachment were selected randomly from patients who were referred to marmara university, faculty of dentistry, department of prosthodontics, between 2003-2013 periods. patients were divided in two groups, each of 150 patients. a questionnaire was prepared to assess patients’ satisfaction of denture. questionnaire included 19 questions (patients’ age, gender, education level, number of denture used, duration of denture usage). all data were analysed by using t-test, chi-square, oneway anova p<0,05. results: statistically significant correlation was found between educational level and the type of denture (p<0.05). patients who were using partial dentures with precision attachement had significantly more satisfaction for chewing. also success rate were higher for cleaning denture, more self-confidence, better speaking, insertion of denture more comfortable, better esthetic satisfaction, more denture stability while eating. conclusion: satisfaction of patients who treated with partial denture with precison attachment was higher than patients who were using conventional partial denture.
