GARRE OSTEOMYELITIS: A CASE REPORT

Garré’s osteomyelitis (go) is a type of osteomyelitis generally affects children and adolescents. go is most commonly reported in body of mandible; apart from the mandible the most common bone to be involved in go is femur. although the disease is well described in dental literature and is usually associated with an odontogenic infection originates form caries, a number of other causative factors have been occasionally reported, such as previous dental extraction in the lesion area, mild periodontitis or dental eruption. go is characterized with peripheral subperiosteal bone deposition caused by mild irritation or infection. management involves removal of the source of infection and antibiotic treatment. this case report presents an unusual case of garré’s osteomyelitis affecting the mandible of a 12-year-old female.
