CROSS-INFECTİON CONTROL IN PROSTHODONTİC TREATMENTS

Cross contamination is defined as transition of microorganisms that can cause the infection among the patient-dentist-dental staff. prosthodontics and her/his teams (dental nurses and technicians) are subjected to many infections from the patients. defining the microorganisms that causing the infections and be aware of their properties have a great important in point of dentist should have taken preventive measures against the transition ways of microorganisms and infections. in this study, the important of cross contamination at prosthetic field, active microorganisms and their transition ways, methods of sterilization/disinfection and protective and preventive methods from the cross contamination are described in the light of current literatures.
