PROSTHETIC APPROACH IN TREATMENT OF OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA SYNDROME (OSAS): CASE REPORT

Upper airway sleep disorders are characterized by contraction and obstruction of upper airway during the sleeping. daytime sleepness, strain, concentrate problem and tendency of accident increase according to sleeping quality and time dimunition. subjective complaints are not adequate criteria for diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome requires an all-night polysomnographic recording. the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome must improve qualitiy of life and decrease harmful effect of sendrom to health. the treatment for obstructive sleep apnea syndrome varies from conservative therapy to invasive surgical measures. one of the conservative therapy is intraoral appliance which is related to dentisty. the working mechanism of these devises is enlargement of upper airway with tangue or mandibular leading position. in this case report, patient who has complaint of snoring, tiredness, headache and daytime sleep has diagnosed as obstructive sleep apnea. no complaints are observed after treatment of intraoral appliance.
