OZONE AND ITS USAGE IN DENTISTRY

The aim of modern dentistry is development of preventive approaches non-invasive techniques instead of invasive techniques in the treatment of dental caries to avoid unnecessary loss of substance. currently accepted treatment approach is the early diagnosis of caries, to arrest the progression of established lesions and to enhance the natural process of lesion repair by remineralization. one of the protective and preventive approaches used for this purpose is ozone (o3) application. for many years, ozone is widely used in medicine because of strong anti-oxidant effect and powerful antimicrobial agent also used in dentistry in recent years. the aim of this review is to introduce the ozone and give information about the use of various areas in dentistry.
