   THE EVALUATION OF ANOMALY IMPROVEMENT GRADES OF PATIENTS WITH COMPLETED ORTHODONTIC TREATMENTS

چکیده    Purposes: the aims of the present study are to evaluate the anomaly improvement grades of patients treated at the department of orthodontics, faculty of dentistry, kırıkkale university and to detect the differences between genders on improvement grade. however, the other our aim is to compare the results obtained in our country with the results obtained in other countries. material and methods: the material of this study consists of pre- and post-treatment orthodontic models and cephalometric radiographs of 116 cases that completed orthodontic treatments. all measurements were made using the icon index. results: according to the improvement grade, the numbers of greatly improved, substantially improved, and moderately improved cases were 64 (% 55,2), 35 (% 30,2) and 15 (% 12,9), respectively. the number of minimally improved and not improved or worse cases was 1 (% 0.9). these improvement grades are higher than the grades obtained in the other countries. although the improvement grades of females were better than the males’, this difference between females and males wasn’t statistically significant (p>0.05). conclusions: it was found that the treatments in the university clinics of our country were more successful than the treatments in other countries. we recommend the use of icon index, providing that physicians evaluate objectively results of their treatment, educate them and achieve better results for their next treatments, as a training tool in all university clinics.
