   THE SPECTROPHOTOMETRICALLY COMPARISON OF THE COLOR DIFFERENCES BETWEEN COMPOSITE MATERIALS WITH DIFFERENT SCALES

چکیده    Color selection always has been a problem for esthetic restorative dentistry. color science experts have been searching the ways to be able to make an objective choice of color for many years. the aim of this study is to compare spectrophotometrically whether there is difference among colors of eight different composite materials using two different scales or not. in this study, it was used 8 different composite materials which are compatible with vita and 10 samples of each material were obtained by using stainless steel mold (8 mm diameter, 2 mm thickness). color measurements of the samples were recorded by spectrophotometer as value of cie l* a* b*. color measurements of composite samples also were compared to values of cie l* a* b* belonging a1 at vita lumin scale and own scale of the spectrophotometer. additionally, δe values among the composite materials were calculated to determine whether there is color difference among each of composite materials or not. the statistical analysis of obtained data was calculated by one-way anova and tukey test. statistical significance level was taken as p <0.05. the significant differences were obtained between all composites in view of l*a*b* values (p<0.05). when δe values between composite materials and the scales is examined, it was found out the δe values between composite materials and the spectropohotometer change from 1.36 to 6.22 and the δe values between composite materials and vita lumin change from 1.15 to 5.97. compared δe values to determine whether there is color difference among composite materials or not, it was determined that these values changed between 0.5 and 6.5 and generally higher than 3.3. the color differences in composite materials show variability even between scales. therefore, it should be developed the more appropriate and reliable methods to determine the color match.
