LETTER TO THE EDITOR: UNUSUAL DEVELOPMENTAL ANOMALY OF MANDIBLE

A group of voluntary doctors and dentists; who are supported by the turkish cooperation and development administration presidency (tika) which is related to the office of prime ministry; worked in a temporary tooth and mouth clinic in the city of tessaoua, which is in the southern part of nigeria. a 36 year old male patient applied to the clinic of mouth health care. in his mouth examination it is determined that he did not have vestibuler sulcus in his lower lip and his lower lip is adherent to his gingiva. in the medical history taken from the patient, he told he did not have a trauma in his face or the jaws. as well as esthetic problems, the patient suffers from speech, eating problems and holding his saliva in his mouth. there are no other abnormalities determined in the patient’s body. the aim of this case report is to show how the contiguous lower lip phenomenon which did not treated, leads to tooth, gingival and jaw problems in following years. this case study presents the clinical picture of a 36 years old male patient’s mandibular sulcus abnormality; that lives in africa and hasn’t met a dentist till this age.
