MAGNETIC ATTACHMENTS IN PROSTHETIC DENTISTRY

Magnetic attachments are used for a retention unit in removable prostheses either retained roots or osseointegrated implants and maxillofacial prostheses. over the last decade, by producing laser-welded stainless steel encapsulating magnets which are made of rare earth alloys, neodymium-iron-boron and samarium-cobalt, significant advances have been made in the development of magnetic materials. this review will be chronicled the development of magnets in prosthetic dentistry and summarizes future research in their use. furthermore, we will try to give an answer the question: ‘are the magnetic attachments provide adequate retention force for dentures?
