   DENTAL MANAGEMENT OF ANTICOAGULATED PATIENTS

چکیده    Introduction and aim: nationally, invasive dental treatments of patients on anticoagulants are preferably performed following cessation of the drug. essentially, the preferred method should be to carry out surgical procedures without altering the dose of the anticoagulant. in this review, it is aimed to inform the reader regarding the contemporary approach and remind the relevant chore clinical information. materials and method: the risk of thromboembolism when anticoagulants are stopped, the risk of bleeding when anticoagulants are continued, treatment planning and techniques for establishing haemostasis are explained in the light of case series, prospective studies and books from english and turkish literature. results:the reviewed references show that most of the invasive dental treatments can be carried out without altering the usual dose, providing inr≤4. however, cessation of anticoagulants may still be necessary for a short period of time prior to the operations with higher risk of bleeding. conclusion: the results of thromboembolism could be detrimental when compared to the problems caused by secondary bleeding, which can be controlled with local measures in most instances.
