چکیده

Tooth transposition is an anomaly involving the positional interchange of two adjacent teeth and its incidence has been reported as about 0.4%. the teeth transposition of which is most frequently seen are the upper canine teeth. in this case report, the orthodontic treatment of a female patient having unilateral complete maxillary canine and first premolar transposition and severe crowding in the upper and lower arches was presented. it is not advised to attempt to correct transposed teeth in the permanent dentition because of the potential risk of damaging the teeth or supporting structures. therefore, alignment of the involved teeth in their transposed position seems to be the best alternative. however, a recent trend in the management of mxc.p1 is orthodontic movement of the teeth into their normal anatomical position. therefore, this orthodontic treatment alternative was decided, and four premolar teeth were extracted before treatment. all teeth except the second and third molar teeth were banded and bonded with 0.018×0.025 straight wire brackets,. tooth transposition was corrected after 18 months and fixed appliances were removed 48 months after the initial treatment. angle class i molar and canine relationship, ideal overjet and overbite and correction of transposition were achieved.
