TREATMENT OF A SKELETAL CLASS III MALOCCLUSION WITH FACE-MASK AND BONE-ANCHORED PENDULUM APPLIANCE (A CASE REPORT)

In this case report, the treatment of an 11 years and 3 months old girl with skeletal class iii malocclusion using face mask followed by boneanchored pendulum appliance was presented. the elastics with 1200 gr force with 15°-20° to the occlusal plane were adjusted and the patient was told to use them for 16-18 hours. anterior cross-bite was corrected after the use of face mask for 13 months; however, dental class ii malocclusion was occurred. to correct the class ii molar and canine relationships occurred after face mask therapy, molar distalization with bone-anchored pendulum appliance was applied. the springs were prepared as applying about 200 gr force to provide distalization and class i molar relationship was achieved about 6 months later. as a result, skeletal class iii was corrected with a face mask, while dental class ii was corrected with boneanchored pendulum appliance.
