CHEWING EFFICIENCY OF COMPLETE DENTURE

Masticatory function provides swallowing of the food that have broken into small pieces after mixing with saliva. especially in complete denture wearers, masticatory function gain importance for eating foods and maintaining healthy daily lives, as well as enhancing the quality of life. in recent years, epidemiological surveys have revealed the close relationship between oral health state and quality of life. many people get lost their natural teeth with age, leading to a decline in masticatory function. with prosthesis replacing missing teeth, people recover masticatory function. the maintenance of masticatory function for subjects who wear complete dentures is especially important because of loss of all teeth. in this review article, the methods of chewing efficiency in complete denture wearers, the materials that used during chewing tests and the factors that have a role in the chewing efficiency have been evaluated.
