ONE OF THE SOFT LINING MATERIAL IN PROSTHETIC TREATMENT; MOLLOPLAST-B

Soft liner materials are used for patients who are unable to tolerate a hard denture base because of advanced resorption of the residual alveolar ridge or due to the presence of a thin and relatively nonresilient mucosa. these materials are effective in evenly distributing functional stress on the residual ridge and absorbing energy during mastication to reduce transmission of that energy to mucosa. due to their flexibility and property of deformation, they distribute the pressure over the mucosa in equal proportion and they reduce the pain during mastication. moreover, they adapt easily to the tissue undercuts by increasing retentive ability of the prosthesis. in this study, the outcomes of the researches related with heat-cured silicon based soft liner material, molloplast-b which is widely used in clinics and which has successive results, is presented in details. consequently, on the basis of the research data, it could be concluded that in the complete dentures, overdenture prosthesis, tooth-supported complete dentures, and removable partial dentures, the soft liner material-molloplast-b is preferred to other soft liner materials due to its biocompatibility, physical and mechanical adequency, easy imple mentation, and low costage.
