   THE COLOR CHANGE OF A MICROHYBRID COMPOSITE IMMERSION IN DIFFERENT TRADITIONAL TURKISH DRINKS

چکیده    Purpose: the purpose of this study was to evaluate the color change of a microhybrid resin composite immersed in traditional turkish beverages. materials and methods: a microhybrid resin composite was included within the study (filtek z250). fifty resin composite specimens (6mm diameter, 2mm thickness) were prepared. baseline color measurements were taken with a spectrophotometer and the specimens were immersed in four staining solutions (turnip juice, turkish coffee, cranberry juice and black mulberry juice) and distilled water. (n=10) after a 24-hour, 72- hour and 1-week of immersion, the color values of each specimen were re-measured with a spectrophotometer and the color change values (δeab*) were calculated. statistical analyses were evaluated by means of one-way anova and post- hoc tukey hsd test. (p=0,05). results: the color change was higher than δeab*≥ 3.3 for all staining solutions except for in distilled water after 1-week of immersion. among the all drinks tested, turnip juice showed the highest δeab* value for the composite samples. (p<0,05). conclusion: within the limitations of this study we can say that the resin composite tested was susceptible to staining by commonly used drinks in the turkish populations, especially turnip juice and turkish coffee.
