چکیده    Background: intramedullary nail (imn) usage is a proposed method for fixing long bonefractures. distal nail screw implantation can be achieved through two methods, the conventionalc-arm method and the c-arm-based navigation method.objectives: this study aims to compare the two mentioned methods in terms of theirconsequences, such as duration of operation, times of radiation exposure, and the success rate ofscrew implantation in patients with femur or tibia fractures.methods: this randomized clinical trial involved 44 patients with femur or tibia fractures, equally divided into control and intervention groups. the conventional c-arm method andc-arm-based navigation method were respectively used in the control and intervention groupsfor distal kuntscher screw implantation. the radiation exposure times, the duration of surgery, the number of attempts to implant each screw, and the success rate of each screw implantationwere recorded.results: the success rate and duration of distal nail screw implantation were almost the same inthe study groups. however, using the c-arm-based navigation method significantly reduced theamount of radiation exposure.conclusion: using navigation as a new technology in orthopedics may have a beneficial impacton the process of distal imn screws implantation.
