چکیده    Background: malaria is the most important vector-borne diseasein many tropical countries all over the world. because of thewidespread use of pyrethroid insecticide treated mosquito netsin the world, the effects of excito-repellency (er) phenomenonof pyrethroids against main malaria vector, anopheles stephensiwere studied.methods: the er phenomenon of three concentrations of twosynthetic pyrethroids (permethrin and deltamethrin) as well asetofenprox was evaluated against anopheles stephensi underlaboratory conditions. female 5-7 day unfed mosquitoes wereexposed to animal bait in holder and the animal’s back and headwere covered with impregnated bed net in -er test chamber.results: deltamethrin was more effective compared to otherinsecticides in killing the mosquitoes. the mean of entry toexit trap showed significant differences in all concentrations ofinsecticides (p < 0.05).conclusion: this study showed that er phenomenon ofinsecticides should be noticed in vector control programs. theranked data indicated the relative potency of both pyrethroidsand etofenprox. deltamethrin repels the female mosquitoes morethan other insecticides tested.
