Transnational Memory Articulation of the East Turkestan Turks in Zeytinburnu

Researches done on culture and memory at the present time are still done over nation-state concept. in fact, various compositions / movements as international migration are going beyond and converting the borders of nation – state and all kinds of delimitations and leading us to create new concepts. the concept of transnationality has been developed for this changing migration structure and is welcomed as a significant factor in culture and memory couple. as it is known that turkey is maintaining it’s target country position for migrations of turkic origins coming from asia and central asia from 1950s up to day, researches done on this topic are still phenomenal and around limited disciplines. this research is looking for marks of memory articulation of east turkistanis emerging with their transnational migration to zeytinburnu which has been a target of national and transnational migration within the context of urban sociology. in the present study, researching the social, cultural, spatial marks of east turkistanis in the region, marks of these in the region’s memory through the profoundly interviews and spatial observations have been grounded on. study was fictionalized on two main theoretical structures. first of them is about transnational migration and transnational immigration status and second of them is about memory and immigrant relation. then it is being interpreted over the findings of the field work of memory convection from east turkistanis who are transnational immigrants, to zeytinburnu district.
