AN EMPIRICAL STUDY ON THE EVALUATION OF KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT PRACTICES IN TURKISH BANKING SECTOR IN TERMS OF STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT

Firms currently have turned their face to knowledge management to benefit from it’s strategic advantages. as the engine of the financial system and information technology providers, “knowledge management(km)” has especially begun to act pivotal role within the restructuring of interbank competition. thus, several banks began to identify strategies of becoming a knowledge-based organization within the global markets. to achieve this, the banks have to enable managing their intangible assets by selecting the appropriate tools and by the effective outlook of strategic management. the aim of this study, is to reflect the overall view of km applications in turkish banking sector and to measure the perceptions of top-level bank management regarding km. the study comprises the illustration of the conceptual framework of knowledge management as well as the identification of it’s current position in the financial industry. to betray this argument, an organizational model is proposed and the general outlook of strategic management is evaluated by an empirical survey concerning the turkish banking sector.
