   Effectiveness of the introductory materials on students’ conceptual understanding: Case of “The heat transfer”

چکیده    The purpose of this study is to develop introductory materials as they pertain to the elaboration stage with regards to “heat transfer” topic and to investigate the effects of these guide materials on students’ conceptual understanding. semi-experimental research design was used in this study.the sample consisted of 67 sixth grade students. data of the research were collected through conceptual understanding test, drawings and interviews. the quantitative data were analysed with wilcoxon signed rank test and mann whitney u-test. student interviews were analyzed using descriptive strategies. student responses were classified based upon the conceptual similarities and dissimilarities. student drawings were analyzed using the same classification. the findings of the study show that, there is a statistically significant difference in favor of the experimental group based upon students’ conceptual understanding
