The effect of group counseling implementation on secondary school students’ wellbeing in the context of life skills education

|
The aim of this study is to examine whether or not group counseling conducted in the context of life skills with secondary school students increase their well-being levels. experimental pretest-posttest control group design was used in this study. research was conducted with secondary school students in gebze district of kocaeli province. both control and experiment groups were formed by 12 students who accepted to participate in the research voluntarily and were determined via random assignment. five dimensional model of adolescent well-being scale was used as a data collection tool. while group counseling was implemented to the experimental group, control group was not received any implementation. to determine whether or not the scores of the pretests and posttests changed significantly in experimental and control groups collected from adolescent well-being scale, non-parametric mann whithey-u test was applied. to determine whether or not the scores of experimental and control groups gathered from wellbeing posttests significantly decreased depending on pretests, non-parametric wilcoxon signed- rank test was applied. the results showed that group counseling implementation in the context of life skills is effective to increase well-being levels of secondary school students.
