HERO’S TRANSFORMATION IN HOLLYWOOD CINEMA: ROCKY BALBOA’S PHYSICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL, CULTURAL AND IDEOLOGICAL CHANGE

Hollywood cinema that has a fictional narrative form has tried various methods over time in order to enable the audience to enter the world of a film more quickly by associating themselves with its characters. one of them is the method of hero creation formed under the influence of myths, in particular. hollywood, which dominates the world cinema, is able to present a variety of ideologies through its heroes effectively. however, this presentation is not independent of the social, political and economic situation of a period in which a film is made. hollywood cinema taking this into consideration may transform its hero within the historical process. therefore, the same hero has different physical, psychological, cultural and relational features in one film of the series, and he may appear in front of the audience fully transformed from these aspects in other films of the series. in this context, physical, psychological, cultural and ideological features of rocky balboa, which is one of the heroes of hollywood cinema, were evaluated in film rocky of 1976 production and rocky iv of 1985 production, and it was examined what transformation he experienced from these aspects in this study. situation determination was performed in order to reveal this transformation experienced by rocky balboa.
