   FREE WILL, DETERMINISM AND POWER IN POLITIC DRAMA SERIES: AN EXAMPLE FROM “ROMA” TELEVISION SERIES

چکیده    Recently, there has been a growing interest in the academic analysis of television series. this study analyzes the first season of “roma” television series which has been broadcasted in the tv channels including raidue, hbo and bbc two between 2005 and 2007 years. “roma” tv series, whose producers and scriptwriters are john milius, william j. macdonald and bruno heller, has been one of the outstanding examples for the wide spreading politic drama series. in the similar politic drama tv series of “roma”, the conflicts have been scrutinized between the people who want to grab the power. based upon the question of what the main qualities of the expression are in “roma” series, the study attempted to investigate the problems of freewill and determinism. in the “roma” tv series, the power relationships are discussed within the context of whether the will of people are subject to an absolute determinant. thus, a new issue emerges on which one, structure or agent, determines the direction of life. this study argues that the narrative in the “roma” tv series are shaped based on the belief that the will of people are subject to luck and destiny.
