Nowadays, it has been inevitable that paths of social media platforms taking part in each area of life cross with one of the main actors of daily life such as television. television series are the most common kind of programmes during prime time, which is the most precious time period of the television. television series, whose main success criterion is to gather the most audience in front of the screen, have been affected by the developments happening recently. the success of television series has been started to be measured not only by rating measurement results but also by social media ratings. interactivity has gained a different dimension with the addition of new media opportunities to the process, which is called “participant television” and the audience has been active by means of being a part of television series. in this study, from each region of turkey, communication faculty students’ habit of using twitter in synchronous with television series has been measured by making a comparison between television series’ rating measurements and social media measurements. questionnaire research model is used in this research and the questionnaire is applied to 550 people. according to the findings obtained from the study, no television series' tns rating measurement, social media measurement and rate of students’ watching are in the same rank. it is a remarkable result of the research that students, who don’t share on twitter or don’t follow the sharing about television series that they watch, predominate among the students who watch television series.
