THE NEWS ON MAINSTREAM MEDIA: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS ON NEWS ELECTION OF TELEVISION AND NEWSPAPER

Media is the main information source about social matters which citizens want to know in democratic societies. on the other hand, media is very important because of its power about effecting and directing the society. so it is thought that media has to give public service. besides the ability to deliver public service, media is a good advertising and marketing tool. all institutions and organizations which need to public support are try to influence the media. therefore, the media's itself is a battle ground for social forces which want to use media power. entrepreneurs also who have economic forces want to use the media for commercial purposes. they began to struggle for this aim about fifty years ago and managed commercial use of the media today. defenders of the media’s vision of public service suggest that the commercial use takes away media from public services. they argue that homogeneous contents and identical news in the media elevates as strong arguments and important indicators. this work is a study to collect data and make analysis about the validity of the claims. sampling frame chosen from newspapers and television news programs which delivered and telecast nationally.
