CULTURAL EFFECTS IN CARTOONS IN TERMS OF GRAPHİC EXPRESSION AND THEME: EXAMPLES FROM TURKISH CARTOONS

Optical toys and cartoons known as the predecessors of cinema, then cinema itself and the effects of television in twenty-first century increased the cultural reflections. this cultural reflection interacted between culture to artworks, then artworks to society which in return sped up the process of cultural changes as exchanges among societies developed. emerged as a new art form and industrial field during modernism, cartoons played an important role to introduce their creators’ social culture to other cultures through graphic expressions, stories, characters and dialogues which were affected by their creators’ culture and the art movements at the time. here in this article, cultural effects on cartoons produced in historical process were examined in terms of graphic expression and theme, and cultural effects on cartoons produced in turkey were studied on samples.
