THE USAGE OF CORPORATE WEB PAGES IN RELATIONS WITH MEDIA: AN EVALUATION BASED ON PUBLIC RELATIONS

|
The developments on new communication technologies have changed the communication ways of the companies with their target groups. the change in the communication ways of the companies with their target groups, has also affected the companies’ relations with media. the companies have started to give information for media via their corporate web pages, virtual newsrooms and e-mail. the analyzed first 100 industrial companies’ web pages were chosen from the list including 500 industrial companies of istanbul chamber of industry in 2012. a content analysis was conducted to determine how companies use the corporate web pages to meet the information needs of media workers. according to the survey results, the percentage of the companies that use the virtual newsrooms is % 89.0.while in press rooms, corporate social responsibility, event management for stakeholder, electronic news releases are the most commonly included materials, it has been determined that company photograph, corporate logo and leader’ photo are the less commonly used in virtual pressrooms. e-mail, one of the medium is used to developing relations with media comes after the traditional means.
