   THE RISE OF THE ANTIHERO IN THE NEW TURKISH CINEMA WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF THE FILMS GEMİDE AND BORNOVA BORNOVA

چکیده    The new turkish cinema, namely the cinema that has been developing since mid-1990s, has been trying to develop new narrations different from the acknowledged conventions in yeşilçam cinema. in these new narrations, the conventional perception of a hero is shaken. also, one can encounter new narrations in which pure goodness is not a necessity, and badness is presented as a part of the reality. therefore, it can be seen that ‘antiheroes’ presented with their weaknesses, selfish approaches and bad sides have been placed in the focus of new turkish cinema. within the context of this study, which social structures create an antihero and part of which cultural representations these masculine heroes are will be discussed within the frame of the films focused on an antihero. the study will try to shed light on the transformation of the acknowledged perception of a hero, the reasons behind the increase in the number of these heroes with all their defects and weaknesses and also the way these masculine narrations shape new turkish cinema within the context of the film, gemide by serdar akar and bornova bornova by inan temelkuran. with this purpose in mind, the method of ideological and sociological criticism will be used in the analyses of the films and in order to understand the relation between the films and the social and political structures.
