VIOLENCE NEWS AND NEWS PHOTOGRAPHS IN THE CONTEXT OF GENDER IN TURKISH PRESS

Violence caused by gender relation, context of gender roles, includes men as well as women. there are certain responsibilities of the press in the representation of this violence as news and news photos.the aim of this study was to investigate, press in turkey elected to represented, violence of women andmen and violence against women and men, a comparative examination of in the context of news and news photos. to this end applied critical discourse analise in the text of news. referenced a semiotics formeaningthe representation of images. also study supported by quantitative data.the results of the research paper in general shows that, the newspapers’ understanding especially against women has resulted in a publishing sense. haber türk and posta newspapers exhibited a position reinforcing and reproducing, acts of violence arising from gender relations. these newspapers have adopted a sensational publishing. zaman has published minimum number of news on this issue. this situation coincides with the newspaper's conservative editorial policy. press should represent gender-based violence by news stories and news photographs. in the context, the role of press should havethe policy which not be sexist and on behalf of person who has exposed to the violence in case of representation.
