THE VIEWPOINT OF TURKISH IMMIGRANTS TO ITALIANS: AN INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION RESEARCH

The aim of this research is to determine perspective of turkish immigrants living in italy to italian society, culture and people in the context of intercultural communication. field research method was used and survey technic was applied for collecting data in this research. the population in this research consists of turks living in italy. survey applied to randomly selected 545 turkish immigrants who mostly lived in cities of milano, modena, reggio emilia and como. the data obtained from research transferred to the spss 16.0 package program and its frequency analysis was conducted. in addition to, chi-square test of independence was performed to determine whether there is a significant relationship between variables or not. according to data obtained from research determined that turkish immigrants have a negative viewpoint to italian society, they experience some adaptation problems, cultural differences are the most important factor to experience these adaptation problems, relationship between turkish and italian is occurred at a limited level and turkish people prefer to communicate with other turkish people.
