   THE WAYS HOW THE TEENAGERS ARE INFLUENCED BY TV COMMERCIALS: CHARACTERS IN TV COMMERCIALS EFFECTIVE IN SHAPING THE IMAGE OF THE YOUNG PEOPLE

چکیده    The young who step out from childhood to adulthood go through a number of psychological, emotional and physical changes. during this period, they have the desire of getting better-looking, being involved with the opposite sex or admired by them, and being free from the family. they start paying attention to beautiful and handsome people around them and being interested in clothing and cosmetics more. in this period, they might have difficulty in shaping their own image. their family, friends, the mass media and beliefs might play an important role in this imagemaking process. however, since tv commercials offer them a magical and a desired world for both the young and the adult, they find themselves unconsciously in this wonderland. thus, once they enter this world of magic, they would like to become beautiful or handsome, charming, stylish, rich, intellectual and successful like the characters that have such qualifications in tv commercials. this study explores whether the young generation follows these tv commercials, what they pay attention to most, and how they find the image of these characters. these research questions were analyzed by a questionnaire distributed to 380 people. as a consequence, it has been found out that the characters in tv commercials have an influence on shaping the image of young people. we see in the results that the young people note the extural appearance of advertisement characters they show interest about the pretty or handsome of characters so they want to look like these advertisement characters.
