MUNICIPALITIES’ USE OF THEIR WEB SITES IN PUBLIC RELATIONS ACTIVITIES: A STUDY ON METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITIES WEB SITES.

In our countries perspective, internet is an instrument that has entered our lives in the last 15 years, and added new dimensions to the classic methods that are in use in many fields. needless to say, public relations will put this instrument to use too. in this context, municipalities are taking advantage of internet in public relations practices like many institutions do. this study examines how and to what extent metropolitan municipalities make use of their web sites in public relations’ two sided recognition and publicity activities. this research reveals that despite metropolitan municipalities use their web sites for public relations purposes; they have serious shortcomings in both recognition and publicity. it has been determined that they especially fall behind in recognition activities.
