The daily newspaper anadolu’da yeni gün was first printed in september of 1918 by yunus nadi in istanbul by the name yeni gün (the new day). to escape the suppression of the armistice era, the newspaper moved to ankara and was printed from august 1920 on under the name anadolu’da yeni gün. acting as the semiofficial voice of the ankara government, the newspaper was one of the most influential and qualified dailies among the nationalist press. during the battle of sakarya, the newspaper was moved further east to kayseri. the battle resulting with the victory of the national army, it moved back to ankara, and after the declaration of the republic it was closed to make place for the istanbul daily cumhuriyet printed again by yunus nadi after 7 may 1924. with a character of a qualitative historical reconstruction, the study aims to evaluate how the battle of sakarya as one of the most critical turning points of the liberation war, affected the anadolu’da yeni gün as one of the leading dailies of the nationalist cause, and in general the newspaper policy of this daily during this process.
